French Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint Germain (PSG) produced an emphatic and historical come back to defeat Atalanta 2-1 in the quarterfinal match of the 2019/20 EUFA champions league season played at the Estadio da Luz on Wednesday.
Few minutes from kick-off both sides showed their attacking abilities as they created good scoring opportunities but were never utilised.
In the 26th minute, Atalanta broke the dead rock through Pasalic who curled a wonderful effort past PSG goalkeeper Navas after receiving a pass from Zapata and the Italian side defended the lead until half time.
With time ticking on the clock, the French giants introduced striker Kylian Mbappe in the second half as they searched for an equaliser but a well organised Atalanta defence frustrated PSG.
In the last minute of the match and when everyone thought Atalanta will progress to the next round of the tournament, Marquinhos broke the hearts of the Italian side when he squeezed the ball into the net after Neymar had played the ball into the box.
2 minutes later, Choupo-Moting was the hero as he scored the winner for PSG in added time to send the club into the semifinals of the champions league for the first time since 1994/95 season.
