Confederation of African Football (CAF) president Ahmad Ahmad has announced that all it’s member association will share a total of $10.8 million to assist in the management of football in the domestic leagues that have been affected by the coronavirus.
At a meeting held last week, the continental football governing body agreed to immediately send relief money to all it’s member associations which includes Football Association of Malawi (FAM).
“Due to the fast speed of COVID-19, African member associations have suspended all domestic competitions, which have brought about huge financial burdens on their shoulders.
“CAF has thus decided to wave the eligibility requirements to access the annual grants, so all member associations can benefit during this difficult period”, said Ahmad
In March 2020, the world football governing body FIFA also gave out relief packages to all it’s affiliates to be used by different stakeholders during this time when football games have been postponed.
