The American Civil Liberty Union (ACLU) has sued Donald Trump’s office over the Monday incidence whereby Trump deployed some police to forcefully remove peaceful protesters around the White House by using chemical agents.
The Rights union said that Trump violated the civil rights of protesters. The lawsuit filed the case in Washington DC saying president Donald Trump and Attorney General William Barr among other officials unlawfully violated the protesters’ rights when clearing the Lafayette Park on Monday.
The law enforcement officers aggressively forced the protesters back by firing smoke bombs and pepper balls into the crowded protesters.
The lawsuit was filed on behalf of the Group Black Lives Matter DC and individual protesters present.
The case is filed by the Lawyers’ committee for Civil Rights Under Law, the law firm of Arnold and Porter, Washington Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs and ACLU of DC.
