The president of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa has on Thursday paid his last respect to the former lawyer of the first president of South Africa, Nelson Mandela.
The lawyer, George Bizoz passed on at his residence last week at the age of 92 years. The funeral service of the human rights lawyer and social activist was held on Thursday morning at Orthodox Church in South Africa.
The Head of State praised the late for the efforts he made towards the struggle for democracy in the country.
“George Bizoz was one of those lawyers who contributed immensely to the attainment of democracy in the country,” noted Ramaphosa.
Ramaphosa ensured arrangements for the burial ceremony to be stream lived and televised on the government’s social media for the people who are unable to attend the ceremony due to covid-19.
Mr George was Mandela’s close ally and advisor during Mandela’s regime in building the nation.
