TNM super league side Savenda Chitipa United has asked well wishers and companies to help the club with K6.5 million to pay Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) to clear their coaster which is at Songwe boarder.
The club which earned a promotion from the northern region football association league into the elite league in 2019 sourced K5.5 million from well wishers. They used te money to buy the coaster as one way of reducing transport cost to fulfill fixtures in the league as they go as far as the central and southern region respectively.
According to a press statement signed by general secretary of the club who bought the coaster Pickford Kamanga, the team needs well wishers to help the club with money to clear the coaster. The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) and Malawi National council of sports talks to MRA to let the bus in without duty has failed.
“First and for most we thank those people who helped us with a little something to buy a 36 seater coaster for the club amounting to K5.5 million and the bus has been at Songwe boarder since January 15 as we don’t have money to pay as duty fee to clear the bus.
“For that reason we are pleading to well wishers to help us out from this situation by giving us some money as we have a short fall of K4.5 million. We have managed to raise K2 million of the k6.5 million needed to clear the bus,” Kananga said.
According to the press statement, well wishers can send money to the the teams account number which has been in use since the time the task force started sourcing money to buy the bus.
“The team has an account which is at National bank in the name of Chitipa United football club with account number 1002243241 which well wishers can use if they want to help the club and the money will be put to good use.
