28 schools in Bariadi district, Simiyu, have received an upgrade and maintenance of school property after their results from the recent EP4R.
11 of the schools were primary schools and 17 were secondary schools.
Speaking at a public event in Simiyu, the prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania Mr Kassim Majaliwa said that initially 2.3 billion were released to the schools meant to upgrade the schools’ environments and now 457 million has been added to complete it.
The improvements centre classrooms, school bathrooms, dining halls, teacher’s housing and many more school rated properties.
Tanzania provides free education for primary and secondary schools. Majaliwa spoke on this saying 23 secondary schools have already received funds replacing the students’ fees totalling 1.43 billion. This is meant to cover the students’ tuition fees, food and dormitory expenses.
