Silver Strikers football club has appealed against the verdict given by the Football Association of Malawi. The verdict was to compensate Blantyre based Be Forward Wanderers the sum of K8 million over the transfer saga of Nigerian striker Babatunde Adepoju.
Last week, FAM found the central bankers at fault to have breached the contract made by the two teams in an attempt to acquire the services of the former Nigerian striker when the reserve bank sponsored side sent a stop order to the bank not to transfer K8 million into the nomads account to complete the move.
An appeal letter sent to FAM signed by Silver Strikers chief executive officer Thokozani Chimbali, said, the club mistakenly issued the K8 million cheque and might not compensate the Lali Lubani side as the player aggrement transfer was just verbal which is against article 1(3)(b) of FIFA rules and regulations on the status and transfer of players contracts.
The appeals letter further states that the transaction was illegal as it was intermediated by Mr Zachariah Nyirenda who is not a lincesed player agent/intermediary and he acted in the conflict of interest when he represented the player
