Just after losing the 2019 TNM super league top goal scorer Khuda Muyaba, capital city giants Silver Strikers football club has brought to their house Nigerian and former Masters Security striker Babatunde Adepoju from Be Forward Wanderers in a move that is around k7 million.
Babatunde was a record signing for the Nomads before the start of last year from Masters Security and the club spent huge sums of money for the move as well as on his salary despite going through financial problems.
Wanderers general secretary Victor Maunde has confirmed the hitman has been released to cut the wage bills in the forth coming season.
“We are trying as much as possible to spend within our budget in the 2020 season and among other ways of doing that is negotiating with players to reduce their salaries and if that fails we have no other option but to release them. So in the case of Babatunde, he has been released as he is demanding more which the club feels will lead to other financial problems,” said Maunde.
Babatunde was Wanderers top goal scorer during the 2019 season as he scored 15 goals to his name despite leading the chase for the golden boot in the first round of the season only to be won by Khuda Muyaba.
This is the third striker to join the central bankers since the coming in of Zambian tactician Daniel Kabwe ahead of the new season as they already signed Foster Bitoni and Stain Davie from Blue Eagles and TN Stars respectively.
