Malawi reserve bank sponsored side Silver Strikers football club will no longer use their base, the silver stadium for training as they have identified a new ground which the team will be training on.
Most football grounds in the country such as Civo, Nankhaka and Silver are being said not be in good shape despite the 2020/21 football season expected to kick off in August as announced by Football Association of Malawi (FAM).
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the central bankers Thokozani Chimbali has disclosed saying the decision has been to let the silver stadium look good whenever it’s during match days for league games as well as cup games.
“We are trying to adapt to ways of how our friends in Europe and even in other advanced leagues in Africa do their things. They don’t train on the same pitch they use for games. For that reason we have identified another training place for the team so that we don’t over use the pitch before match days and also to let the pitch have a good look on match days,” he said.
