Lilongwe based giants Silver Strikers football club has won the battle against Be Forward Wanderers for midfielder Chikondi Kamanga as he has signed a three years contract despite later abducting the player over the weekend.
Kamanga was promoted from Wanderers reserve to the main team but failed to have game time which made the team to loan him to Ntopwa football club last year. Since he is a free agent, the Malawi under 20 national football team player tried his luck with the central bankers where he impressed.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Silver, Thokozani Kumbali said they have gone through struggles from Wanderers as they tried to chase the signature of the player but in the end they have fought a good fight.
“We invited the player from Blantyre after we had investigated that he had no contract with Wanderers and we had already started negotiations with his parents over a possible move to Silver but our friends abducted him over the weekend to convince him to be with them but they have failed.
“During his week long trials, he has impressed and he was in our plans even when we invited him from Blantyre as he is an enterprising player with a bright future here in Malawi and even abroad,” said Chimbali.
Chikondi Kamanga is the third big signing for the area 47 side ahead of the 2020 season as the team has signed Foster Bitoni and Stain Davie from Blue Eagles and TN Stars respectively.
