Sponsors of the Northern Region Football Association (NRFA) league, Simama and Son’s (SIMSO) have promised to continue sponsoring the league after being impressed with how it has been run in the past years.
According to NRFA league general secretary Masiya Nyasulu, there were doubts that the sponsor might not be willing to support the association but at a recent meeting with SIMSO, they have been assured of continued sponsorship.
“We are happy that they have assured us that they will continue sponsoring the league as we were doubtful of that due to coronavirus but they have told us they are satisfied with how we run the league.
“The sponsors are also happy with how teams perform in the TNM super league after gaining promotion from our league and has emphasized the need for us to work extra hard so that players from our league should play professional football as well as being called to play for the Malawi national football team,” said Nyasulu.
SIMSO sponsors the NRFA league with K5 million per season, making it the regional league with the lowest sponsorship package as the Central Region Football Association (CRFA) gets K10 million from Chipiku stores limited with Rab Processors Limited sponsoring the Southern Region Football Association (SRFA) with K12.5 million.
Over the years, the NRFA produced teams to play in the elite league such as Chitipa United, Karonga United, Mzuzu warriors ( formerly Mzuzu university) and Ekwendeni Hammers.
