Nyasa Big Bullets Football Club has announced the signing of Malawi under 23 and Griffin Young Stars striker Peter Banda for an undisclosed fee.
Banda has signed a three years deal with Big Bullets and was unveiled yesterday at Kamuzu Stadium before their match against arc rivals Be Forward Wanderers in the ECO Bank Charity Shield.
Speaking in an interview after signing the player, Nyasa Big Bullets Chief executive Officer Fleetwood Haiya said they are giving the technical panel all it asked. “Our technical panel asked us to bring to the team Peter Banda and here he is in our camp and his is a young start full of talent and that should help our team”, said Haiya.
Peter Banda’s manager Griffin Saenda jnr said its high time they let go of the player. “In the past we were reluctant to release the boy as we felt he was not ready to top flight action but this time around I have confidence that he is ready to deliver at any top club in the country and Bullets had a better offer on the table”, Saenda Jnr said.
Nyasa Big Bullets Football Club has beaten capital city giants Silver Strikers Football Club who were also chasing for the boys signature and Banda who twice went for trials last year at Orlando Pirates in South Africa is the fifth player to be signed by the people’s team after they brought Precious Sambani, Ben Manyozo, Gomezyani Chirwa and Luke Chima.
In a related development the new signing Peter Banda and midfielder maestro Mike Mkwate are expected to leave for Zambia on Monday to under go trials at the country’s premier league side Buildcon Football Club.
Confirming the development, Nyasa Big Bullets Administrative Director, Albert Chigoga said “Mike Mkwate and Peter Banda are traveling to Zambia for trials and I can confirm that they will have a week long trials in Ndola Zambia. These players have been playing for the Malawi under 23 team and I believe Buildcon managed to spot them during their game against Zambia under 23 national team recently and the coach has given a go a head for the players to travel for the trials”.
