The Northern Region Football Association (NRFA) will on Saturday 20th April kick off the 2019 season at Rumphi ground with a launch match between Rumphi United and Kato Football Club.
Vice General Secretary for NRFA Olinze Nsonda has said in an interview that they are set to kick off and they expect fireworks during this year’s campaign.
“I can say we are almost done with the preparation for the 2019 season as three quarters of the preparation work has already been done and we are excited to kick off the 2019 season and teams seem geared up to compete for a place to play in the TNM Super League next year.
“Last week we organised a meeting with teams that participated in the league last year and those that want to participate in the league this year and the meeting has enlighten us on how best to run the league this year.
“On Saturday we will be at Rumphi ground launching the 2019 season with a game between Rumphi United and Kato Football Club before we release the rest of the fixtures next week”,Nsonda said.
Nsonda further said that teams are still registering to play in the league but edged clubs to follow what the Mpira Connect states in terms of club registration.
“Football Association of Malawi (FAM) held a meeting with clubs from the northern region a few weeks ago to teach the clubs about the Mpira connect and we expect clubs in our league to put into practice all that Mpira Connect states.
“More teams have registered to participate in the league and we have already started producing cards for teams to use this year”, said Nsonda.
The Northern Region Football Association will be the second regional league to kick off after the Sourthern Region Football Association launched it’s league on 6th April and last year NRFA promoted Chitipa United to play in the TNM Super League.
