TN Stars Football Club has registered it’s second consecutive win in the 2019 TNM Super League after defeating Mlatho Mponela Football Club 2-1 and moving to second position on the log table with 10 points from 6 games.
In a match played at the Kasung Stadium on Tuesday afternoon, TN Stars took the lead just after three minutes into the first half when captain Stain Davie after Mlatho Mponela defenders were caught in a panic failing to clear the ball in the box.
Mlatho Mponela looked a more disjointed side and making matters worse, they failed to defend set pieces that the home side took advantage of that for Stain Davie to score his second of the afternoon before Patrick Macheso pulled on back for Mlatho Mponela to go to the break Stars leading 2-1.
In the second half, Mlatho Mponela was a changed side as they raised the tempo of their play searching for an equaliser through Hassan Upindi, Patrick Macheso and Ferguson Ntondo who kept knocking on TN Stars goal but a well disciplined defence of Stevie Msiska, Blessings Joseph and Robert Dinge stood film to Denie the visitors a goal and after 90 minutes TN Stars won the game 2-1.
After the game, TN Stars Football Club coach Meke Mwase said so far so good as things are shaping in the right path.
“So far so good as we managed to collect maximum points this afternoon and am happy with how the boys played and this consecutive win shows we are heading in the right direction.
“The morale was high coming into this game as we were coming from wining our weekend match against Tigers and the boys were confident that’s why they performed well “, said Mwase.
Eddington Ng’onamo coach for Mlatho Mponela Football Club blamed the loss on his boys who gifted an early goal.
“We have lost as our friends out played us they were the first to be on the ball and we gifted them an early goal which unsettled us but this is all gone and we need to focus on the coming fixtures “, Ng’onamo said.
