Super League of Malawi (SULOM) president Tiya Somba Banda says he is happy with all the inputs given by TNM super league teams ahead of the scheduled meeting with sponsors of the top flight league Telecom Networks Malawi (TNM) plc.
Last month, SULOM opened up negotiations with TNM plc for a possible new sponsorship package with the current deal ending in December 2020. The elite league governing body then engaged all the 16 teams to give their input on what they expect to be included in the new sponsorship package which according to Tiya Somba Banda received a positive response.
“We asked teams to give us inputs on what they want to be included in the new sponsorship deal as we opened up talks for a possible sponsorship extension with TNM plc and we are happy with all the ideas the teams have given and we will take them to the board as we go for our next meeting with TNM plc officials on Friday.
“We wanted the teams to be involved in this as we just represent them so their ideas will give a good view of what we want for our football to grow”, said Banda.
Reports indicate that some teams have proposed a 50% increment with others opting for a 100% increment to the prize money won by a team at the end of the season. Currently a team takes home k15 million for being champions of the TNM super league.
