Super League clubs in the Southern region did not show up for the seminar that the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) in conjunction with the Referees Committee organised on Saturday 6th April at Mpira village in Blantyre.
Former FIFA referee Moffat Champiti, who was instructor of the seminar in the Southern region said clubs would have benefited a lot from the seminar.
“Coaches and team managers were not at the seminar to represent their teams but referees and assistant referees were present for the important seminar but clubs have missed a lot by not attending the seminar.
“We budgeted for 60 referees but the response was overwhelming as 80 referees attended the seminar which shows that referees in Malawi want to understand the amended laws and use them properly”, Champiti said.
FIFA female assistant referee Benadeta Kwimbila Mzika who was in attendance and will be among the officiating personal at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in France from 7th June said the seminar was crucial in preparing both referees and clubs ahead of the new season.
FAM organised the seminar in all the three regions of the country with Simama Hotel in Lilongwe hosting the seminar in the central region while in the northern region it was held at Mzuzu stadium.
