As teams continue to finalise preparations ahead of the 2020 season to kick off on 21 March, Lilongwe based Civil service united has shown interest to sign former Malawi national football team and Silver Strikers goalkeeper Charles Swini.
Swini has been training with the civil servants since his return from Mozambique where he was playing for Costa do Sol and his parent club, Silver Strikers closed doors not to take on board any former player who left the club as the new coach Daniel Kabwe is pleased with the squad he has.
Speaking in an interview, Civil service united assistant coach Elia Kananji said Swini is a very experienced goalkeeper that the club is working hard to see him play for them this season.
“Charles Swini has been training with us and well with his experience he has shown to still have what it takes to make a good goalkeeper that we are working hard to finalise all the paper work that he be our player as we will be starting the new season,” said Kananji.
If Swini will join the area 9 based club, he will face his former club Silver Strikers on the second match day of the 2020 TNM super league which is expected to witness a quick capital city derby at Civo stadium on 22 March.
