The country’s main opposition party CHADEMA has opened doors for the candidates interested to view the presidency on the party’s ticket ahead of the October 2020 general election.
This was said by the party’s Secretary-General John Mnyika during a press conference held in Dar es Salaam on June 3.
The process will follow the party’s guidelines as the candidates will have to submit their credentials to the general Secretary office and undergo some vetting by the executive committee for the final decision then the viewing exercise to the qualified candidates.
The deadline for the interested candidates to submit their credentials to the general Secretary is June 15.
According to Mnyika, there are other procedures to be followed that will be announced by the party, which need to adhere to the party’s constitution. The other procedures include the taking and return of sponsorship forms.
“There will be procedures for the presidential election and the entire nomination process that will run from executive committee sessions will then be forwarded to the general council,” revealed Mnyika.
