Teams to battle in Airtel semis

The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has released fixtures for games in the 2019 Airtel top 8 cup semi finals with teams set to battle on the weekend on June 15 – 16.

A released fixtures signed by the FA general secretary Alfred Gunda indicates that an all northern region affair between Mzuni football club and Karonga United will be the first semi final of the tournament this year and will be played at the Mzuzu stadium on 15th June.

The following day June 16, the football fiesta is expected to be in the capital city as a battle of capital city based teams, Masters Security football club and Silver Strikers football club will will be at the Civo stadium to book themselves a place in the finals.

Mzuni reached the semi finals of the tournament after defeating Civil Sporting club while Karonga United who are playing in the Airtel top 8 for the first time booted out Kasungu side TN Stars.

Masters Security crused to the semi finals after defeating Kamuzu Barracks football club while the central bankers defeated Blantyre based giant Be Forward Wanderers football club.

Blue Eagles football club who didn’t play in this year’s tournament after failing to finish in the top8 of the TNM super league last year, won the cup in 2018 with Silver Strikers winning it in 2017.
