1984 – Tay Grin, the rapper was born. Malawian rapper who became one of the biggest names in African hip-hop with songs like “Break Out,” The Beach” and “Chipapapa.” In 2014, he won the BEFFTA award for Best International African Act and was named as one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World by C.HUB Magazine. He grew up idolizing American rappers like Jay Z and KRS-One. His big break came after a chance meeting with Alicia Keys’ manager Onree Gill in 2005. He is an entrepreneur who created the wireless public payphone company Phone Yanu. His real name is Limbani Kalilani. He once sang with American pop superstar Madonna at a party.”
