Tigers hands civil first defeat of the season as Wanderers, Silver win

Be Forward Wanderers Football Club has collected three points in their first game of their southern region assignment after defeating Karonga United Football Club 1-0 at the Karonga Stadium on Saturday afternoon to register their second win in the 2019 TNM Super League.

Wanderers came into the match knowing a win from the game will bring back the lost morale in their camp as they have lost two consecutive games that lead to the suspension of the Bob Mpinganjira led technical panel.

In the early fifteen minutes of the game, both teams failed to settle down as they failed to play passing football and both teams seemed to be under pressure as they squandered the few created chances.

In the 25th minute, Wanderers striker Babatunde Adepoju made no mistake to put the ball into the net after receiving a good pass from Francisco Madinga, a goal they managed to defend until half time to lead 1-0 against Karonga United.

In the second half, the home team gave Be Forward Wanderers Football Club a good run as they wanted an equaliser but Nenani Juwawo in goals for Wanderers was always alert to clear dangerous balls played by Karonga United.

Wanderers interim coach introduced Felix Zulu and Peter Katsonga for Raphael and Vincent Nyangulu to contain Karonga’s pressure that after full time Wanderers were 1-0 winners over Karonga United.

Speaking after the match, Be Forward Wanderers Football Club team manager Stevie Madeira was a happy man with the win.

“Am happy we have won this afternoon and I thank they boys for they fought hard as its not easy to win hear in Karonga.

“Tommorow is another game and we will talk to the boys that we focus and work hard as well to win that game which I think once that happens the confidence in the boys can come back “, said Madeira.

From Karonga United, coach Dan Dzimkambani said
“It’s painful lossing at home but we could have won the game had it not been for the chances the boys missed,”

With Be Forward Wanderers collecting three points this afternoon, they have moved to position 9 with 6 points from three games while Karonga United lie on 10th position with 6 points from 6 games.

In another game on Saturday afternoon, a brace from striker Michael Tetteh was enough for Silver Strikers Football Club to defeat Mzuni Football Club 2-1 at the Silver Stadium.

The central bankers are now on position eight with seven points from 4 games while Mzuni Football Club is on position thirteen with five points from five games .

At the Mulanje Park Stadium, Tigers Football Club handed Civil Sporting Club their first defeat in the 2019 TNM Super League as they won 1-0 through a Tonny Mbulu goal.\

The Kau Kau boys are now on position four with nine points from seven games while the Civil servants are on third position with nine points from four games.
