Tight golden boot race as Shalulile scores for Park to level with Mhango

Malawi national football team and Orlando Pirates football club striker Gabadinho Mhango will need to score at least a goal for his side’s face-off on Sunday 23rd August to keep alive his chances of winning the 2019/20 premier soccer league (PSL) golden boot award.

The former Nyasa Big Bullets attacker had been leading the standings of those fighting for the award since February this year but has failed to increase his chances of winning an award because he has not scored in the past five games for Pirates which has given room to Peter Shalulile of Highlands park who scored for his side during the 1-1 draw against Polokwane city on Saturday to take his goals tally to 14, level with Mhango.

The draw moves Highlands park of Malawi national football team defender Limbikani Mzamva to 7th in the standings while the pair of flames defender Denis Chembezi and striker Khuda Muyaba have a lot of work to do in order to avoid relegation as they remain in the relegation zone.

In another match on Saturday, flames pair of midfielder Gerald Phiri junior and striker Richard Mbulu failed to rescue points for their side Baroka football club as they lost 1-0 to Chippa united in a match the duo came on from the bench.

Baroka will have to fight tooth and nail in their remaining games if they are to avoid relegation having only collected 25 points from 27 games and are on position 14.
