Police in Nsanje have arrested two men for allegedly being found in possession of human tissues.
The district’s Police Station Public Relations Officer, Sub-Inspector Agness Zalakoma confirmed the development in an interview with Malawi News Agency on Monday.
Zalakoma, who identified the two as Joseph Mola, 62 and his son Sozini Gracious, 19, both from Mbangu Village in Traditional Authority Malemia’s area in the district, said police arrested the two when they were selling two dead newly born infants at Ngabu Trading Centre.
The police publicist said while the two were selling the dead bodies, well wishers tipped the police who quickly apprehended the two.
“Well wishers tipped the police about the malpractice which led to the arrest of the two while in possession of the corpses which were exhumed from Mbangu graveyard.
“The police are at the moment investigating the matter. We, therefore, would like to thank members of the community for offering the tip and would also want to encourage members of the public to report such matters to police,” added Zalakoma.
The two are expected to appear before the court soon after investigations have been completed, according to the PRO
