WHO to investigate the origin of coronavirus

The World’s Health Organization will send a team to China next week to investigate the origins of the coronavirus, says the body’s head, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

The announcement was made by WHO after attacks by the US President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo who claim the novel coronavirus originated in a laboratory in China despite never presenting evidence to support their argument. While China strongly denies the allegations against them.

WHO’s emergencies programme head, Mie Ryan has also quoted Brazil saying that it still has a big challenge in fighting the coronavirus, urging federal and state authorities in Brazil to work closely towards the fight against the disease.

“Brazil is still facing a big challenge,” he put it describing the situation in the Americans as difficult.

Brazil stands as the second-worst hit country in the globe by the deadly respiratory disease with 1.3 million cases and 57,620 fatalities.
