Nyasa Big Bullets and Chicken Inn football teams managed to win their games on the first day of the 2020 Energem international bonanza played at the Kamuzu stadium yesterday, Friday 28 February.
The Zimbabwean side, Chicken Inn which is playing in the international bonanza for the second successive year having also participated in the tournament last year, played in an early kick off match against Be Forward Wanderers in a match the home side lacked coordination from the start.
The visitors kept pressing on Wanderers door and took advantage of the nomads defence in the 35th minute when they failed to clear the ball which found striker Marvin Gaki to score from a rebound after the goalkeeper Richard Chipuwa had saved the first shot.
In the second half the nomads, searched for an equaliser but were kept frustrated by the Zimbabwe side which won the game 1-0 after 90 minutes.
In the second match on the day, Nyasa Big Bullets football team relied on a second half goal from defender Precious Sambani to defeat Mozambican side UD Songo after a hard fought in the first half produced no goals from both sides.
Sambani who played his first competitive match since getting injured during the second round of the 2019 TNM super league headed home a righteous banda corner kick just after the hour mark to give the host a much deserved win.
Nyasa Big Bullets and Chicken Inn have three points and a goal each and will face each other on the second day of action in the bonanza while Wanderers and UD Songo who have no point and a goal each will also battle for points against each other.
