Worry for jnr Flames

Malawi under 17 national football team has suffered a big blow a head of the COSAFA junior championship as some of its players have failed the magnetic resonance Imaging (MRI).

According to COSAFA, MRI is done to have eligible players below the age of 17 to play for their national teams.

Junior Flames coach Dekleck Msakakuona called into camp 30 players from which only 18 have passed the MRI.

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) media and communications director Gomezgani Zakazaka said its not a big cause of worry.

“We were suppose to do the MRI in good time knowing such things do happen but we didn’t have money. This is not cheap as some people might think”.

“Some players have failed the MRI at a time the coach was building a team for the tournament. As a national we need not to worry much. We have a pool of some players from which the coach can choose to beef up the squad”, he said.

Malawi will host the COSAFA junior championship from October 11- 20 this year in Blantyre.
