Zakazaka chairs FPA

Football Players Association (FPA) has appointed former Big Bullets football club and Malawi national football team striker Jimmy Zakazaka as interim chairman for the association following the departure of Mr Alfred Lungu.

According to a statement released by the association signed by General Secretary Ernest Mangani, FPA has received recommendations from the world union of player, FIFPro,and has drafted into it’s executive committee four players who are playing in the top flight league as well as for the national team.

The four new executive committee members are Moyale Barracks football club striker Gastin Simkonda, Nyasa Big Bullets captain Chimango Kayira, Blessing Kawanga of Kamuzu Barracks and Moses Chavura who is hunting for a club in the country after leaving the Mozambican side Vilankulos last year.

The statement further remind and encourage all players in Malawi especially those playing in the top flight league and have formal contracts with their teams to register for membership of the association so that they are entitled to benefits such as general insurance cover for injuries, medical aid cover, collective bargaining agreement, financial literacy and funeral cover.
